According to the company the drug is approved by various drug-controlling agencies all over the world and it can be used anywhere in the world. So far, according to the company, the drug is available in the markets of 56 countries.

Rimonabant is prescribed to patients who have a body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or greater. It has been shown that the drug has a high success rate in reducing the body weight in people with large waistline. The drug imparts a radical change in the eating habits of the patient by reducing the appetite for food by blocking the cannabinoid receptor which induces the sensation of appetite in the brain. The drug is also known as an effective remedy for stopping or controlling the chain-smoking habit. Here also, the drug blocks the receptor which generates a craving for smoking in the brain of chain smokers. Some pharmaceutical scientists are of the opinion that this drug can also be used to prevent or reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Rimonabant has some manageable side effects like nausea and a tendency to vomit. But some experts allege that there are some unpredictable side effects like depression and anxiety.
